Privacy policy

The most important thing: Keldwell's calculators run entirely in your browser. The income and financial figures you type are used only on your device to show your result — they are never stored, logged, or transmitted to us or anyone else. Close the tab and they're gone.

This policy is a template provided for transparency. It should be reviewed and finalized by a qualified privacy attorney before you rely on it for legal compliance.

Who we are

Keldwell ("Keldwell," "we," "us") operates the website at keldwell.com, offering free calculators and educational guides for self-employed people. For any privacy question, contact us at hello@keldwell.com.

Our core privacy principle: calculators are client-side

Every Keldwell calculator performs its math locally in your web browser using JavaScript. When you enter figures such as your income, mileage, or expenses:

The only exception is if you voluntarily submit your email address through a form (for example, to receive a results summary or reminders) — see below. Your financial figures themselves are still not transmitted.

What we do collect

Newsletter and reminder emails

If you choose to subscribe, we collect the email address you provide (and any name you optionally add) so we can send the emails you signed up for, such as quarterly-deadline reminders and occasional money tips. We manage this list through a third-party email service provider, [Email Provider], which stores and processes your email on our behalf under its own privacy and security terms. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, and we will stop sending and remove you from the active list on request.

Analytics and technical data

Like most websites, we collect limited, standard technical information to understand how the site is used and to keep it working — for example pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type, and referring site. We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool for this, configured to avoid collecting more than we need. This data is used in aggregate to improve the site and is not used to identify you personally. [Name your analytics provider here and confirm its configuration during legal review.]

Contact messages

If you email us, we receive the contents of your message and your email address so we can respond. We keep correspondence only as long as needed to handle your inquiry and our records.

Cookies and tracking

We aim to keep cookie use minimal. We may use essential cookies needed for the site to function and, if enabled, analytics cookies as described above. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use invasive cross-site advertising trackers. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; essential functions may be affected if you block all cookies. [If you deploy any advertising or affiliate-tracking cookies, disclose them specifically here and add a consent banner as required in your region.]

Affiliate links

Some pages contain affiliate links. If you click one and take an action on the partner's site, that partner may set its own cookies and collect information under its own privacy policy. We may receive a commission, but we do not receive your financial account details from these partners. See our editorial policy for how affiliate relationships work.

How we use information

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

How we share information

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the site (such as our email provider [Email Provider], hosting, and analytics), and only as needed to perform those services, or where required by law. These providers are bound to handle your data on our behalf.

Data retention

We keep newsletter emails until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Contact messages are kept only as long as reasonably necessary. Because calculator inputs are never transmitted, there is nothing for us to retain from your use of the tools.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. We aim to honor these rights for all users regardless of location.

California (CCPA/CPRA) and other U.S. state rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access it, to request deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of it — though we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are commonly defined. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Residents of other states with comparable privacy laws (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, and others) have similar rights, including access, correction, deletion, and opting out of targeted advertising and sales.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@keldwell.com from the address associated with your request. We will verify and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits.

Other regions

If you are located outside the United States, additional rights may apply under your local law. Contact us and we will do our best to accommodate valid requests. [If you knowingly serve users in the EU/UK, add a GDPR-specific section during legal review, including lawful basis and international-transfer details.]

Children's privacy

Keldwell is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we hold, and our client-side approach means the most sensitive data — your income figures — never leaves your device in the first place. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. We'll revise the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice.
